About Zebulun:

At the age of eighteen, Byrl Murdock began work in a lawn mower repair shop in western Indiana, where he was raised. During down times, the owner would ask Byrl to paint used lawn mowers, refurbishing them for resale.  Thus began Byrl's love of custom painting.  He enjoyed the task so much that he left the lawn mower business to find work in a body shop.

With no practical experience, he figured he would start with the basics and work his way up to a painting position.  Upon being hired, however, he was immediately introduced to what would become his most prized possession and tool in the automotive industry, his paint gun.

He has now been painting professionally since 1995, having received technical training and certification from such well-known commercial paint companies as PPG and Spies Hecker, and studying various painting techniques.  He has acquired a multitude of his favorite tools, from air brushes to mini jets in a variety of sizes and types.  He has painted everything from top panel funny cars, to buses, trucks, cars, trailers, helmets, C02 canisters for paint ball guns, show cars, show trucks, and show bikes.  He has even painted camouflage on guns, bows, and an assortment of other items.  In Byrl's words, "If it can be painted, I can customize it".

As his experience grew, Byrl began dreaming of owning his own body shop - a custom shop catering to a clientele seeking a custom finish.  Able to achieve most any custom finish desired, his specialty is in painting traffic-stopping real flame effects.

Byrl knew he had a good thing going when passers-by would stop his family members (driving cars custom-painted with Byrl's work), and inform them that their cars were on fire.  In 2002, in Frankfort, IN, he began a home-garage business on the side.  Byrl's reputation has made itself known and the business has grown steadily.  Now, Zebulun Custom Finishes is his boyhood dream come true, and poises on the brink of being the premier custom finishing shop in the east.

Byrl recently custom-painted a truck shown in the renowned World of Wheels Car Show.  The truck placed in the top 20 for the eastern division.  In addition, Zebulun's proximity to the Indianapolis Speedway and the Brickyard circuit make it a prime choice for anyone in the racing industry, as well as anyone seeking a prime custom paint job.
